The Woodcote Cup

Ludovic Lindsay set out to repeat last year's Woodcote Cup winning performance and suceeded spectacularly, helped somewhat by Martin Stretton's E.R.A. R4D running its bearings in practice. Strangely this is virtually what happened when John Bolster drove Lindsay's Remus at the first Goodwood meeting in 1948. But this time we had moved slightly around the table of fate.

R5B also known as Remus was of course in its day a White Mouse Racing Equipe car which was extensively campaigned by Bira.  So later was the car challenging throughout the race, the Maserati 250F of Christian Glasel. But however Glasel harried Lindsay in the very wet conditions he was not going to get through to first place. Barrie Williams' power slides around Woodcote in the Wenman Equipe National Belge Connaught A Type were a glory to behold and he deservedly brough the car home in third place.

Next in was the hard trying Gregor Fisken followed by the wild Ferrari Thinwall Special in the hands of Rick Hall with Alain de Cadenet in the Connaught Alta B-Type hanging on to come in a close sixth sixth.
