The race designated for cars in this section was the Goodwood Trophy held at 0915 on the Sunday morning in what turned out to be very wet conditions.

Described as the race for GP, Formula 1, Formula 2 and Libre cars of a type that would have raced between 1938 and 1951 there is however a slight overlap in this section, mainly with the E.R.A.s.

Two practice sessions for the Goodwood Trophy were held on the Friday in conditions varying between very wet and dry. In the final dry session Barrie Williams qualified Dick Skipworth's E.R.A. R3A on pole at 1:36.037 closely followed in second place by Julian Majzub's Alfa Romeo 308C at 1:36.050.
