Ultimately Duncan Ricketts qualified the E.R.A. E-Type higher up the grid than Frank Sytner's R1A but on this occasion, in very wet practice conditions he was suddenly in trouble half way through Madgwick. Even with copious opposite lock that massive polar moment about the front axle got the better of him. Sytner takes the opportunity to make for the horizon with all haste.
